Back in 2014, I was overweight and depressed. For over 15 years I struggled with a binge eating addiction. I would try “lifestyle changes” from time to time but nothing ever stuck.
Eventually, it got to the point I could barely do my job. I had a sick feeling in my stomach most of the time. Junk food was the only thing that gave me relief for a few hours.
My best friend started to see a holistic doctor who was helping her with gut health (something I desperately needed). She never pushed me to make an appointment. But my health was so poor I finally made one myself.
That first appointment was nerve-wracking, to say the least.
I didn’t know what to expect or how I could afford long-term care out of pocket. My doctor put me on a strict candida diet. This diet was designed to kill the overgrowth of fungus in my gut.
I was horrified at the food list!
All of my favorite comfort foods were nowhere to be found. But I was desperate to feel better. I figured that I would try the diet (which involved lots of cooking) for a week. If it didn’t work I would go back to my old ways.
Fortunately in the first 4 days, I started to feel amazing after a short detox period. By the end of two weeks weight started to drop off. My inflammation also started to resolve.
Since then I’ve been hooked on health.
I got certified as a health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
That inspired me to help others through writing and making videos about intermittent fasting, weight loss, and self-improvement.
Fasting will change your life
Intermittent fasting isn’t for everyone but it works for most people. Fasting restricts your eating window so you don’t have to worry about calorie counting.
Most people start with the 16:8 protocol. Essentially, this means that you fast for 16 hours and have an 8-hour eating window.
If 16 hours seems like too much, start with 12-14 hours (you’ll still see results). Your body will get used to longer fasts over time.

I thought fasting was too extreme. But the day I finally tried it I never looked back. It changed my life forever.
